James Morrison
The death of James Morrison of Listuguj occurred on August 24, 2002 at his home. He was 74 and prior to his death, he was a retired carpenter, cabinetmaker and ironworker. He spent many years working in the United States until his retirement in Listuguj.
Born on June 11, 1928, he was the son of William and Mary (Basque) Morrison.
He was predeceased by two sons; Franklin and Reuben, his sister, Benedict Metallic, and one brother, Raymond.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Lavigne), his daughter, Jacqueline Metallic-Morrison, his sons; Maynard and Ray, his three sisters; Hilda Barnaby, Irene Metallic, and Loraine Morrison, all from Listuguj, his aunt, Lucie Basque of North Bay, eleven grandchildren; Derek and Sandi McGinnus of Webster, Mass., Jill, Abbey, Chase, and Mallory Metallic of Listuguj, Lucille and Melissa Morrison of Oregon, William (Billy), Kyle, and Tyler Morrison of Listuguj and three great-grandchildren; Kali Barnaby of Listuguj, and Caleb and Jarad Paterson of Webster, Mass. As well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Interment was in the Listuguj parish cemetery on August 28, 2002 with father Landry officiating.
Honourary pallbearers were Douglas Martin, Robert Metallic, Miles Sorbey and Sweeney Condo. Also assisting as pallbearers were Tyler Morrison, William Morrison, Kyle Morrison and Chase Metallic.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Rhoda Sarah Ann Cady
The death of Rhoda Sarah Ann Cady (Young) of the Village Nursing Home in Campbellton occurred on August 21, 2002 at the age of 86. She was born in Clifton to Sarah Knowles and James Young.
She predeceased by her sister, Winona Wood and her two brothers, Hazen and Gerald.
She retired from the Eaton’s and Sears department stores after many year of loyal service.
She is survived by her husband, Charles, her step-daughter, Doreen (Larry) Smollett, her nieces; Judy Wheatley and Betty (Mullin) Wood, her nephews; Laurence David Young, Hazen (Buster) Hadley and Jerry Wood, her three step-grandchildren, and her 19 grand nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Cady was a faithful member of the Christ Anglican Church and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral service was officiated by Rev. James MacDonald of the First United Church, with assistance from her nephew Hadley Wood as lay reader. He also read her eulogy, which was composed in verse by herself.
Her funeral arrangements were in the care of Chaleur Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Normand Blanchette
The death of Normand Blanchette, of Glen Levit, occurred on July 11, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 81.
He was born in St. Quentin on November 30, 1920 to Delpine Levesque and Eloi Blanchette.
He is survived by his sister, Theresa of Montreal, his brother, Claude of Bouctouche and several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
His funeral service was held on July 13 at St. Anthony’s Church in Glen Levit, with father Wilfred Benoit officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were his niece, Jackie Craswell, and his nephews; Allan, Mike, Steven, Louis, and Jeremy Blanchette.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Lionel Fontaine
Lionel Fontaine, 81, of Balmoral, passed away on August 28, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Born in Balmoral on October 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Auguste Fontaine and the late Salome (Ouellette) Fontaine.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Parent of Balmoral, his daughters; Irene (Roger) Senechal of St-Foy, PQ., Claire Fontaine of Balmoral, Ginette (Jean Paul) Boucher of Campbellton, Linda (Rejean Belanger) Fontaine of Charlesbourg, PQ., and Monette Fontaine of Balmoral, his sons; Roland (Geraldine LeBlanc) of McKendrick and Gordon (Georgie Quinion) of Toronto, his brothers; Damase (Rita) of Balmoral and Adorise (Adrienne) of Eel River Crossing, his sisters; Hectorine Fontaine of Toronto and Anna (Clermont Lamontagne) of Campbellton, his grandchildren; Carolle, Brigitte, Danny, Diane, Guy, Line, Nadia, Serge, Chantal, Michel, Rachel, Patrick, Francois, and Mathieu, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
His funeral was held on August 31 at L’Eglise Saint Benoit in Balmoral with father Lanteigne officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements for his funeral were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Balmoral.
Claria Noel
The death of Claira Noel, 72, of Pointe la Nim occurred on August 27, 2002 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Dalhousie.
She was born on May 24, 1930 in Dalhousie to Arthur Chaisson and Berthe Theriault and spent her life as mother and housewife.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel of Pointe la Nim, her daughters; Suzanne (Jean) Monmigny of Lachute, PQ, and Jacqueline (Roland) LaBelle of Bathurst, her sons; Jean Pierre (Christine) of Ormstown, PQ., Jacques (Brenda) of Dalhousie, and Patrice (Lynn) of Ottawa, her brothers; Yvon of Campbellton, Jean Michel of Dalhousie and Robert of Dalhousie, as well as 11 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Berthe.
Her funeral was held on August 30, 2002 at Saint John Bosco Church in Dalhousie, with father Chamberlain officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Dalhousie.
