Elinor Kathleen Alford
Relatives and friends were deeply saddened by the sudden passing away of Elinor Kathleen “Kathy” Alford on Aug 20, 2002, in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Kathy was born in Montreal, P.Q. on January 31, 1943 and lived most of her younger life in Tide Head, N.B. which she dearly loved and requested that some of her ashes be distributed there.
In 1995, Kathy retired from the Canadian Military, to which she devoted most of her life. Following this she spent wonderful, busy years enjoying life to the fullest; gardening, crafting, volunteering, and sailing.
Kathy is survived by her son Rob Hicks, daughter Karena Hicks, grandson Nigel Hicks, her beloved fiancée Murray Haywood (who had been her teenage love, from Point la Nim, N.B.) her dear sisters, Peggy and Jeannie as well as many step grand children, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Rena Alford of Tide Head.
Family and friends paid their respects on Aug 25, 2002 in Augus, Ontario. A service of remembrance was held on Aug 26, 2002.
Internment was at the Angus Union Cemetery.
Donations were made to the Heart and Stroke Foundations in her memory.
Kathy will be sadly missed forever by all those who knew her so well for her jolliness, generosity and kindness and her love of life.

George Wilmot
George Wilmot, 82, of Glen Levit passed away on September 19, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
He was born in Glen Levit on February 13, 1920 to the late Patrick Wilmot and the late Mable LeBoeuf and worked many years at the Fraser Mill in Atholville. He is survived by his wife Joan Noble of Glen Levit and his two daughters; Madge Baker of Wabosh, Indiana and Victoria Matheson of Windsor, Ontario.
His funeral was held at Saint Anthony’s Church in Glen Levit on September 23 with Father Benoit officiating.
Internment was in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Wayne Patrick Beaudry
The death of Wayne Patrick Beaudry of New Mills occurred on September 8, 2002 at the age of 58.
He was the beloved son of the late Walter Beaudry and Gertrude (Furlotte). Loving partner of Doreen Oldsworth and wonderful father of daughters; Angel Nelson (Alex) and Amy Smith (Paul). Devoted grandfather to Amber Smith and loved brother of Claude Beaudry of Oshawa, Joan Beaudry, and Kimberley Butts both of Grand Falls. He will be remembered as a wonderful uncle by many nieces and nephews.
He was retired from General Motors after 35 years of service and relocated to his ancestral birthplace of Jacquet River where he spent his retirement years fishing and boating in the Bay of Chaleur. He also enjoyed his dogs and was waiting for the arrival of his new pup.
He will be sadly missed by his many long time friends, especially “gramps” and the rest of the Tompkins family.
His service was held on September 14 and donations to the Diabetes Association were greatly appreciated.
His funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home in Black Point.
Roland Shannon
The death of Roland Shannon, 66, of Tower Hill, N.B. occurred on September 17 at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen.
He was born in Jacquet River to the late John Hubert Shannon and Mary (Godin).
He is survived by his sons; Johnny, Michael, Roland and Christopher, his daughter, Patsy Merchant, his sister, Frances Lemay of Montreal, his brothers; Jimmy, Lyle, Wilfred, Glenn, and Bernard, his many nieces and nephew, his nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
His funeral service was held on September 21 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Jacquet River with Father Wilfred Benoit officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were David, Harry, and Paul Devereaux, Mike Degrass, Brian McGregon and Blair Merchant.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of S.O. Mehan Funeral Home in St. Stephen and MacMillan’s Funeral Home in Black Point.
Michel Lagace
The death of Michel Lagace, 30, of Atholville occurred on September 11, 2002 at the hospital in Saint Quentin. He was born in Campbellton on December 17, 1971 to Raymond and Lorraine Lagace (Bernard) of Atholville and was employed by the province of New Brunswick in the Sheriff’s Department.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Nadine Gionet, his parents, his sister, Nicole (Marc) Laflamme of Cap Rouge, P.Q. and her children; Daphne and Camille, and his two brothers; Richard (Nicole Dionne) of Edmonton and his children: Dominik and Nicholas and Marc (Nancy Underhill) of Campbellton and his children: Philip and Gabrielle.
His funeral was held on Monday, September 16 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Atholville with Father Morrison officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
