Ronald James McLeod Gilmore
Ron Gilmore, 70, of Toronto and formerly of Campbellton, had his funeral service on September 30, 2002 at the Wignall Chapel in the G.H. Funeral Home in Etobicoke, Ontario. Officiating his service was Rev. Dr. Howard Shantz.
The general service was followed by Legion Honours.
Ron was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion branch no. 101 where he was a member for over 40 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadette, daughters; Doris (Paul) Wilson and Charlene (Ken) Thorne, and his son Jim (Karen), his sisters; Helen Gray of Dalhousie Junction and Donnie MacLean of Dalhousie. He was the loving grandfather of Jennifer and Tyler and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Delphis Alexander Cyril Esliger
The death of Delphis Alexander Cyril Esliger occurred on September 21, 2002 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 70.
He was born in Bernard Settlement, the son of Fabian Esliger and Sydney Bernard.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Eileen (Firlotte), his two sons; Randy (Debbie) of Edmonton and Jim of St. Kitt’s, West Indies, his daughter, Robyn Woodcox (Lindsay) of Fredericton, his sisters; Marion Goodine (Sanford) of St. Catherine’s Ontario, Emily Guitard (Lindsay) of Jacquet River and Loretta Firlotte of Belledune as well as three granddaughters; Bailey, Emily and Shelby.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Beverly, his sisters; Gertrude (Nichol), Charlotte (Goodine), and Eunice (McGregor), and his three brothers; Norman, Leo, and Odell.
He was a member of the Korean Veteran’s Association, having served overseas during the Korean War. He was a miner for many years and worked in various locations across Canada. In his retirement years, he enjoyed woodworking and crafted many heirlooms for family and friends.
His memorial service was held on September 28 at St. Gabriel’s Parish Church in Jacquet River with Father Wilfred Benoit officiating. His niece, Gail Lasota of Montreal delivered his eulogy and the Royal Canadian Legion conducted a service as well.
A reception was held after the service in the parish hall and was well attended by many of his family and friends.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home in Black Point.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Anita Girard
Anita Girard, 81, of Campbellton passed away at the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton on October 3, 2002.
She was born in Campbellton on December 22, 1920 the daughter of the late Frank LeBlanc and Rose Anne Levesque.
She is survived by her husband Francis Girard, her daughters; Fernande (Bill) Lee of Havelock, Ontario, and Armance (Ralph) McNeil of Campbellton, her sons; Fernand (Patricia) of Campbellton and Armand of Campbellton, her sister, Rolande (Aurele) LeBlanc of Campbellton, her six brothers; Romeo of Campbellton, Roland (Rena) of Campbellton, Oscar (Therese) of Cap Chat, John (Winnie) of Shippegan, Ernest (Mary) of California and Roger (Catherine) of California, as well as nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and Taffy.
She was predeceased by her brother, Paul and two sisters; Jeannette and Lorraine.
Her funeral service was held on October 7 at Our Lady of Snow’s Church with Father Armel Audet officiating, Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Lee, Ralph, Derick, and Ricky McNeil, as well as Jamie and Stephane Girard.
Her funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Josephine Metallic Isaac
The death of Josephine Metallic Isaac, 72, of Listuguj occurred on October 6, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
She was born in Listuguj on November 25, 1929 to the late Joseph B. Metallic and the late Isabelle Joe. She lived in Listuguj and dedicated her life to being a mother to 13 children and wife of Leonard.
She is survived by her daughters; Barbara Ann, Margaret Rose Vivian, Leona, Diane, Brenda, and Isabelle, her sons; Reggie, Eugene, Donald, Talbert, Bernard Emmanuel, and Carl, her sister Rita Metallic Tenass, her brothers; Louis Metallic, Robert Metallic, and Thomas Metallic, as well as 40 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, her twin daughters, Agathe and Agnes, and two sons; Leonard Isaac Jr. and Mervin Isaac.
Her funeral service was held on October 8 at St. Ann’s Church in Listuguj with Father Landry officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Jayson, Jermaih, Blayze, Leonard, Hunter, Gregory and Mervin Isaac and Danny Caplin. Honourary pallbearers were Joshua, Gerry, and Gunner Isaac, Vincent Metallic, Talbert Isaac Jr., Emmanuel Isaac (Booper), and Reggie Isaac (Punn).
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
Whitney Robert Campbell
The death of Whitney Robert Campbell, 79, of Tide Head occurred on October 11, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
He was born in Nouvelle, PQ on October 4, 1923 to the late Robert Campbell and the late Lena Day.
He is survived by one son, Lane Robert Campbell and his children, Joel, Vanessa and Kevin of Markham, Ontario.
His funeral service was held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel in Campbellton on October 14, officiated by Father Benoit.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home in Campbellton.
