Dr.Eva Anna Szekeres
Dr.Eva Anna Szekeres (nee Beck) passed away peacefully at the Salvation Army Agape Hospic, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Eva was born in Szeged, Hungary and met George while both were attending university in that city.
Together with their son John they fled Hungary and its harsh communist regime during the 1956 uprising and settled in Canada in 1957. Eva continued to practice medicine in her new homeland. Initially, she worked in cancer research at McGill University in Montreal and then practiced family medicine in both Campbellton, N.B, and Calgary. She retired in December 2001. Eva thrived on work and learning and she was dedicated to her profession. She was devoted to her family and she treasured her grandchildren. Eva lived a full life enjoying her work, her travels, her time with family and friends, and her leisure time, especially her aquasize classes. We will all miss her very much. Eva is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, John and Linda Szekeres of Calgary; three grandchildren, Kristen, Steven and Andrew, all of Calgary; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins in Hungary, Austria, England and in the U.S.A.
