Leo Doiron

The death of Leo Doiron, originally of Atholville, occurred on December 3, 2002 at hospital in Toronto. He was 68.

He was the husband of the late Therese Bois and the son of the late Victor and Rose Doiron.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers; late Rina (Maurice) Nault of Rouyn, Rene (Amanda) Doiron of Atholville, Roland (Jeanne) Doiron of Ste Hyacinthe, Noella (Eloi) Martin of St. Alexis, Adeline (Benoit) Martin of Atholville, Hectorine (Tom) Rusk of Toronto, Rejeanne (Wallace) Blanchard of Dalhousie, Regina (Jean-Paul) Boudreau of Campbellton, and Therese (Donald) Mercier of Campbellton.

His Funeral service will be held in the spring.

Alfred (Freddy) Bourdage

The death of Alfred Bourdage of Dalhousie occurred on December 6, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 72.

He was born in St. Charles Caplin, P.Q. to the late Jean and Louise Bourdage and was a harbour pilot of the Restigouche River for seven years from 1967-74.

He is survived by his sons; Roland (Micheline) of Lower Sackville, N.S. and Gildor (Christine) of Gagetown, his sisters; Adrienne (Mark) Foster of Dalhousie, Laurette Walsh of Dalhousie, Blondine Arseneault of Moncton, and Germaine Arseneault of Ottawa, his brothers; Alphee of Dalhousie and Maurice of Edmonton, and his grandchildren; Sebastien and Renelle.

He was predeceased by his wife, Claudette Paradis Bourdage.

His funeral was held on December 9 at St. John the Baptist Church in Dalhousie with Rev. Doiron officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Dalhousie.

Diana Culligan

Diana Culligan of Belledune, wife of the late Gerald Culligan, passed away at the age of 81 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie.

She was born in Green Point, a daughter of the late Alex Guitard and Georgina (Legacy).

She is survived by her daughters; Jeannette (Gordon) Pitre of Belledune, Viola Culligan of Bathurst, Patricia Guitard (Herald Carrier) of Belledune, and Carolyn LaBelle of Belledune, her son, Ronald of Belledune, a sister, Alexanderine (Din) of Jacquet River, as well as ten grandchildren and fourteen Great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons; Martin and Patrick and one brother, Leonard Guitard.

Her funeral was held on December 4, 2002 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Belledune with Father Wilfred Benoit officiating. Pallbearers were Gordon Pitre, Jerry and Gary Guitard, Stephan Labelle, Charles Devereaux and Simon Legacy. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home in Black Point.

Rheal Dion

The death of Rheal Dion, 76, of Atholville occurred on December 1, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1926 in Atholville, the son of the late Antoine Dion and the late Beatrice LeBlanc.

He is survived by his wife, Clemence Maltais of Atholville, his children; Denise (Hubert) Plouffe of St. Catherine's, Marc (Monique Robichaud) of Atholville, Line (Gilles Doucet) of Atholville, Suzanne (Mario Deschenes) of Rothesay, his sisters; Hectorine Loubert of Iberville, Quebec and Carmelle of Iberville, his brothers; Harvey Dion of Iberville, Guy Dion (Ghislaine Robichaud) of Iberville and Lucien Dion (Huguette) of Staint Jean, Quebec as well as eight grandchildren.

His funeral service was held on December 4 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Atholville with Father Morrison officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Roderick Guitard

The death of Roderick Guitard of Belledune occurred on November 28, 2002 at the Bathurst Regional Hospital at the age of 52.

He was born in Belledune, the son of Ralph Guitard and the late Belina (Bertin).

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, his sons; Derrick and Jeffrey of Belledune, his two brothers; Don (Suzanne) of Moncton and Ralphie (Linda) of Petit Rocher, his sisters; Ann Guitard of Moncton and Lynn (Don) Mealy of Eel River, and his grandmother Pearl Pitre.

His funeral service was held on November 30 at the St. John the Evangelist Church in Belledune. Pallbearers were Norman Pitre, Gabriel Aube, Max Guitard, Ryan Guitard, Gordon Pitre, and Josh Guitard.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home in Black Point.

Marie Parent

The death of Marie Parent of Dalhousie occurred on December 6, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 62.

She was born on November 29, 1940 in St Quentin, a daughter of the late Delima Bujold and the late Raymond Lepage and was a housewife.

She is survived by her husband, Regis Parent Sr., her daughters; Anita (Roger) Poirier of Dalhousie, Denise Parent of Edmonton, Diane (Harry) Pictou of Eel River Bar, and Carole Parent of Dalhousie, her sons; Regis Jr., Yvon, Stephane, and Jeremie all of Dalhousie, her sisters; Theresa, Lillian, and Leona, her brothers; Roger Lepage of Dalhousie, Laurent LePage of St. Quentin and Sylvio Lepage of Dalhousie as well as 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Her funeral was held on December 9 at St. John the Baptist Church in Dalhousie with Rev. Doiron officiating. Pallbearers were Jeremie, Stephane and Regis (Jr.) Parent, Harry Pictou, Billy Chiasson and Jason Lapointe, Interment will be next spring in the parish cemetery.

Her funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Delia Jean

Delia Jean, wife of the late Adrien Jean, passed away on December 4, 2002 at the Campbellton Nursing Home at the age of 83.

She was born on September 5, 1919 a daughter of the late Elie Gallant and the late Dina Arseneault.

She is survived by her son Gerard of Campbellton, her sisters; Anne Marie (Fernand) Levasseur and Leonie (Gerald) Roberts, her brothers; Ernest and Phil Gallant and three grandchildren; Nathalie, Andree and Danny Jean.

Her funeral was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Atholville on December 6 with Rev. Wilfred Benoit officiating. Interment was in the Tide Head Cemetery.

A special thank you goes out to the Campbellton Nursing Home for their excellent care and to the "Amies d'Atholville" for the lunch after the funeral.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Jack MacMillan Mourned

The local community was saddened to learn of the death of Jack (John Francis Burns) MacMillan, which occurred on November 29, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

He was born on January 25, 1910, the second son of the late Sarah Grace (Cooper) and the Late William Francis MacMillan.

He graduated from the Campbellton Grammar School and later attended Mount Allison University where he played hockey. He later played for the Campbellton Tigers. He was a dedicated employee of Fraser's Mill in Atholville and was an active member of the First United Church, serving on many committees.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Catherine (Cook), his brothers; Sandy of Tide Head, Emery (Margaret) of Campbellton and James of Toronto, his sisters; Helen MacMillan of Scarborough, Alie Howard of West Hill, Ont., and Maxine White of Tide Head.

He also leaves a number of nephews and nieces on both sides of the family.

Phyllis MacMillan of Riverview, Sandra Murray and family of Ottawa, Maxine MacMillan and family of Saint John, John MacMillan and family of Toronto, Jean Graham and family of Coe Hill, Ont., Gerald MacMillan and family of Ottawa, Sherry MacMillan and family of Campbellton, Jean Howard of West Hill, Susan White and family of Bermuda, Barbara Coleman and family of Ottawa, Charlotte Sherrard and family of Campbellton and Patricia Legacy and family of Dalhousie.

He was predeceased by his first wife, "Nam" Ann Arnold, his son, Jim, and his sister, Myrtle MacMillan.

His funeral service was held on December 3 at Maher's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim MacDonald officiating with assistance from Genevieve Trudel and organist Mike Day.

Pallbearers were John and Gerald MacMillan, Ralph Mann, Gordon Harris, Donald Andrews, and Clark Sherrard. Honourary pallbearers were Phil Smollett, Ed Martin, Roland Charlong, (Skip) Vernon Forster, James Forster, Tom Dewar, and Rev. William Morton.

Interment was in the Campbellton Rural Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Eva Parent

The death of Eva Parent of Dalhousie occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on December 4. She was 91.

Born in Jacquet River on June 23, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Adeline (Mercier) Frenette and had been a housewife.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Wedge and Diane Parent of Dalhousie and Donna Jean Wallen of Toronto, three sons; Maurice of Montreal, Carl of Toronto and Vernon of Campbellton, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Amedee and seven children; Leo, Wilma, Jacqueline, Raymond, Ronald, John and Linda.

The funeral will be held June 23, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Dalhousie.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
