Hattie Firth

The death of Hattie Firth, 82 occurred on January 2,2003 at her residence in the Village Nursing Home. She was born on March 11. 1920 a daughter of the late Jemima Thomas and Donald Murray in Robinsonville.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Ronald) Begbie of Ottawa, Joan ( Fraser ) Doucett, of Westville, N, S, her sons, Allison (Dorothy) of Toronto, Byron (Darlene) of Calgary, Kim of Robinsonville, one sister Mary Harris of Campbellton & one brother Lyman Murray of Robinsonville, her grandchildren, Keith, Gregory, Kevin, Tricia, Deborah and Brian, and her great-grandchildren, Molly, Abigail, as well as many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bedford Firth.

The funeral was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fraser officiating on January 6 with interment in the spring in Robinsonville Cemetery.

Margaret Duncan

It is with great sorrow that the family of Margaret Duncan announces her passing on Tuesday, December 17, 2002, from complications arising from a car accident..

Born near Dalhousie on July 20, 1917, Margaret lived in northern New Brunswick for over 40 years where she was an avid curler and bridge player and was a past Matron of the Dalhousie chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

After living in Tamiscaming, Quebec for nine years, Margaret and her family moved to London, Ontario, in 1972 where she worked for several years at Marian Villa Hospital and was a dedicated member of the Empress United Church.

Margaret, with her gentle, loving and intelligent nature, inquisitive zest for life and delightful sense of humour, will be deeply missed by Arnold, her husband of 63 years, her children, Dr. Jeanne Duncan of Saint John, N.B., Judy and her husband Paul Mitchell of Sarasota, Florida, Jim and his partner Ken Smith of Owen Sound, Ont., Brian of Whitby, Ont., and Debbie and her fiancé Rob Mitchell of Mississauga, Ont., her grandchildren, Bryan Mitchell of Los Angeles, CA and Tarah Weaver and her husband Russ of Vienna, Virginia; sisters Violet Kilpatrick of Norton, MA and Edith Mullin of Dalhousie, her brothers, Jim Miller of St. Thomas and Sydney Miller and wife Betty of Dalhousie, N.B., as well as nieces and nephews in New Brunswick and Ontario.

The funeral was conducted from Westview Funeral Chapel, London, Ontario, on December 21 with Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Leonie Carrier

The death of Leonie Carrier, 85, occurred on December 23, 2002 at the Dalhousie Nursing Home.

She was born in Balmoral on October 17, 1917, the daughter of the late John LeBlanc and the late Angelique Poirier and was a dedicated mother and housewife.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Valdron of Eel River Crossing, Alida Levesque of Dalhousie and Geraldine Steven of Dartmouth, her son, Alvin of Eel River, her sisters, Melanie LeBlanc of Balmoral, Maria Arseneault of Balmoral, Almandine LeClerc of Eel River Crossing, and Alida Levesque, and her brother Alvin LeBlanc of Campbellton, as well as 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two of her brothers, Gerald and Ulisse.

The funeral was held at the Holy Trinity Church in Eel River Crossing on December 24 with Father Bill Arseneau officiating. Pallbearers were Danny, Jackie, Michel and Steven Stevens, Robert Carrier, and Dean Steven.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Florence Pichette

The death of Florence (Olscamp) Pichette of Moncton, occurred on december 28, 2002 at the age of 79 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont hospital in Moncton. She was born April 28, 1923, in Ste-Anne of Restigouche (Listuguj), Quebec, the daughter of the late Edward Olscamp and the late Leovany Pelchat.

She was predeceased by her husband J. Roger Pichette (November 21, 2001). She will be sadly missed and remembered by her son Conrad (Gervaise Ouellet) Moncton; three daughters, Murielle (Bryan Neville) Moncton, Suzanne (Roland Cormier) Fredericton; Louise (Pierre Rioux) Shippagan; seven grand children Christine, Robert, Marie-Andrée, Marie-Claude, Melodie, Mathieu and Isabelle; one great grandson, Jordan, one sister Jacqueline (Bennie Audet) of Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec.

She also leaves brothers/sisters-in law, Numa Pichette (Simonne); Raymonde (the late Lucien Fortin), Huguette (the late Yvanhoe Allard) all of Quebec City, the late Jean-Paul Pichette (Helen), the late Raymond Pichette (Claudette), both from Montreal, the late Gaston Pichette (Simonne) of Moncton, N.B. and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was a member for many years of "Les Dames d'Acadie" de Campbellton, and "Les Amies de l'Hôtel-Dieu Saint Joseph de Campbellton". The funeral was held on December 31 at Our Lady of Snow's Church. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Arseneault

Elizabeth Arseneault of Bathurst passed away on January 6, 2003 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst after a lenghty illness at the age of 89. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was born in Atholville, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Perry) Gallant.

She is survived by her sons, Donald (Solange) of Atholville, Louis, and Roger, both of Quebec, her daughters, Carmel (Patrick) Hahoney of Moncton, Rose (Richard) Gobeil of Bathurst, Aline (Jean-Louis) Roy of Beresford, Lorraine (Marcel) Legere of Moncton, Rina Arseneault (Jim Finley) of Ottawa, Linda (Ken) MacDonald of Bathurst, 36 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ferdinand Arseneault in 1985, her sons, Jean-Marie, Leo-Paul, and Gerard, her daughters, Denise and Yvette, and her brothers Arthur and Norbert.

A funeral mass was held in January 8 at the Holy Family Church in Bathurst. Interment will be in the spring in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Red Cross, Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Elhatton's Funeral Home in Bathurst.

Isabel Dawn Aube

Isabel Aube of Campbellton passed away on January 8, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle against cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Arnold Winton and Jean Steeves and spent her professional life as a dedicated RNA.

She is survived by her husband, John, her daughter, Jennifer (Patrick) Blais, her son, Robert (Tanya) Aube, her grandchildren, Chad and Sara Blais and Bailey Aube and one sister, Jan Prosser of Knoxville, Tenn.

Her funeral was held on January 11 at Our Lady of Snows Church in Campbellton with Father Morrison officiating.

Pallbearers were Alyre Aube, Pierre Guite, Mike Aube, Ozzie Dobson, Terry Vautour, and Royale Aube.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

George Gordon Bulmer

The death of George Bulmer, 71, occurred on January 9, 2003 at the Valley View Villa in Riverton, Nova Scotia.

He was born in Campbellton the son of the late Willian Angevine and the late Alma Jean Downs.

He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and served as an Integral Systems Technician for 25 years, and after retiring in 1976, enjoyed pastimes like camping and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Christine (Murray), his son, Eric (Christine) Cameron, his grand-daughter, Courtney of Calgary, his sister, Verna Munroe of Campbellton, her brothers, Bill (Johan) of Campbellton, Frank (Carolyn) of Nepean, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one brother, Orville.

A memorial service was held on January 14 at the P&K MacDonald Funeral Home in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia with Diaconal Minister Lori Crocker officiating.

Interment will be in the Lorne Street Cemetery.

Donations in his name can be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Augustin (Gus) Richard

The death of Augustin Richard of the Campbellton Nursing Home and formerly of Atholville occurred on January 12, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, He was 87.

He was born in Atholville on October 10, 1915 a son of the late Arcade (Archie) Richard and the late Marie Madeleine Arseneault.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Blanche (Poirier), his daughters Irene (Ian) Mitchell of Dalhousie, Marguerite (Roger) Ouellette of Val d'Amour, Jeannette (Herminie) Thibeault of Campbellton, and Pauline Richard of Atholville, his sons, Maurice (Jeannine) Richard of Atholville, and Albert (Bonnie) Richard of Campbelton, his sisters Alice Frechette of Ottawa, Anita Power of Val d'Amour, Melina Richard of Atholville and Therese Turcotte of Farnham, his brothers, Rev. Albert Richard of Atholville, Francois Richard of Dieppe, Nazaire Richard of Atholville and Alfred Richard of Oshawa as well as 14 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Charles and Jean-Paul and one daughter, Yvette.

Funeral services were held on January 15 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Atholville with Rev. Romeo Morrison officiating.

The arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Mildred Lillian Fitzgerald

The death of Mildred Fitzgerald occurred on January 9, 2003 at the age of 94 in Etobicoke, Ontario.

She was born on September 6, 1908 in Campbellton.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Allan Fitzgerald, her daughter, Betty (Ernest), her sons Roy (Lylah) and Jack (Mary), her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held on January 13.

Margaret Jane Mann

The death of Margaret Mann occurred on January 5, 2003 at her residence in the Village Nursing Home. She was 90.

She was born on July 26, 1912 in Mann's Settlement, Quebec and was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Martha Anna Irvine.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Issy) Poirier of Toronto and Sheryl-Ann (Domenic-Don) Cellupica of Toronto, her sons, Lyman (Lise) Mann of Toronto and Cecil Jr. (Irma) Mann of New Richmond, her brother, Allison Irvine of Mann's Settlement, her 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil, two sons, Alvin and Alfred, and one daughter Aldina.

The funeral was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel on January 8 with Rev. Masters officiating. Pallbearers were Lyman and Cecil Mann, Issy Poirier, Carl Hick, Don Cellupica, and Wayne Keays.

Interment was in the Campbellton rural Cemetery.

Evelyn Chambers

The death of Evelyn Chambers, 92, occurred on January 5, 2003 at her residence in the Michaud Senior Citizen's Home in Dalhousie.

She was born on August 22, 1910 in Dawsonville to the late William Main and the late Florence Main.

She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Matthew) Schmidt of Saskatchewan, her son, Robert of Campbellton, her sister, Opal Fraser of Balmoral, as well as 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert.

The funeral was held on January 8 at Maher's Funeral Chapel in Campbellton with Rev. Noel officiating. Interment was in Dawsonville.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral home in Campbellton.

Geralda Waite

The death of Geralda Waite, wife of the late John Wayman Waite, of Dalhousie, occurred on January 10, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 78.

She was born in Eel River Crossing on April 17, 1924 a daughter of the late Joseph Bernard and the late Lena McIntyre.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Waite of Dalhousie, her sons Greg (Camilla) Waite of Eel River Crossing and John Wayman Waite Jr. of Dalhousie, her sister, Alva Stroub of Montana, USA and her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sarah.

Her funeral was held on January 13 at the St. John Bosco Church with Rev. Chamberlain officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Donald Vincent

Donald Vincent passed away on January 3, 2003 at St, Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 75.

He was born in Charlo, the son of the late George Vincent and Nancy Skene.

He is survived by his wife, Edna (MacCormack), his daughter, Marilyn (Don) Robertson of Hampton, sons, Rodney (Kathy) of Quispamsis and Beverly (Mary Anne) of Woodlands, Texas, sisters, Joyce Mazerolle of Dalhousie, Ethel Mann of Woodstock, Leona (Marcel) Dumais of Ottawa, Lillian (Watson) Laakso of the Dalhousie Nursing Home, his brothers, Lorne (Norma) of Kanata, Ontario, and Glenford (Laurie) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, as well as six granddaughters, Krista (Allan) Orchard, Angela (Ken) Gougen, Heather Robertson, Sherry Vincent, Julie Vincent and Virginia Houk and several nieces and nephews.

He was employed by NBIP Paper Mill in Dalhousie for 44 years and since his retirement in 1989, he enjoyed travelling, woodworking, gardening and was a member of the Chaleur Camera Club. He also immensely enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters who he loved very much. They knew him as "papa" and they will all greatly miss him.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church in Charlo, and will be remembered for his commitment to his church and community. He was also a member of the Restigouche Planning Commission for many years, Camp Chaleur Council, and served on the board of the New Mills Pastoral Charge and a director of the New Mills Protestant Cemetery Co.

He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Harry (Ted), Kenneth, James, Douglas and Robert.

The funeral service was held on January 5 at St. Paul's United Church in Charlo with Rev. Victor Downs officiating. The choir was under the direction of Rose Heinstein and performed the hymn "Whispering Hope". Special readings were done by granddaughters Virginia Houk, Sherry Vincent and Krista Orchard.

Pallbearers were Manley Petersen, Graham Vincent, Floyd Vincent, Patrick Mazerolle, Vernon Fearon and Donald Robertson. Honourary pallbearers were his granddaughters.

Memorial donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the MS Society, the Shriner's Hospital, Zion United Church Memorial Fund, the St.Paul Memorial Fund and the Huntington Society.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years and his caring family.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Denzil George Pollock

The death of Denzil Pollock, Glen Levit, occurred on January 18, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 29, 1933 and died in his 69th year.

He enjoyed playing crib, darts, and bingo and loved bowling.

He is survived by his long time partner Jean Murray, his daughters, Bonnie (Garry) Adams, Heather (Larry) Smith and Carla Pollock, his sisters, Glennis Pollock, Frances (Jack) Smith and Bertha Adams, his grand-children, Nancy, Lisa, Johnaton, Tabatha, Christopher, and Carrie-Ann, and his great-grandchildren, Keith, Rebecca, Cory, and Savannah as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Carrie, his brothers, Whitney Betteridge, Reggie, Ronnie, and Beverly and his sisters, Doris and Dawn.

His funeral was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel on January 20 with Wendall Gregan officiating. Interment was in the Glen Levit United Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Garth Fitzgerald, Vimy Lyons, John MacDonald, Garry Adams, and Robert and William Betteridge.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Patrick Sexton

Patrick Sexton, Escuminac, Quebec, passed away on December 31, 2002 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 63.

He was born in Escuminac on January 21, 1939 a son of the late Gordon Sexton and the late Alice White. He was a municipal inspector in Escuminac.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah MacKinnon, his daughters, Brenda (Reinald) Gallant of Escuminac, Debbie of Edmonton, Bonnie (Paul) Gallant of Escuminac, and Wendy (Terry) Walker of Escuminac, his son Terry of Kitchener, Ontario, his sisters, Theresa Bourdon of Montreal and Queenie Roussy of Montreal, his brothers, Ray (Cel) of Niagara falls, Earl (Betty) of Kitchener, Reg (Monica) of Chelmsford, Ontario, and Rody (Andrea) of Nouvelle. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Owen and Jeffrey (Brenda), Cheyenne and Shea (Debbie), Jordan (Terry), Alicia and Ray (Bonnie) and Colton and Jonah (Wendy).

He was predeceased by his brothers, Burns of Nouvelle and Jerry of Niagara Falls.

Funeral services were held on January 4 at Notre Dame de la Garde Church in Escuminac with Father Alfred Gallant and Father Delvida Leblanc officiating. Enterment was in the parish cemetery, Pointe a la Garde.

Pallbearers were Darry Harper, Amon MacKinnon, Romeo Rioux, Lou Sexton, Gerry Sexton, and Andy Borris,

Elizabeth Ladona Murray

The death of Elizabeth Murray of Flatlands occurred on January 14, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 84.

She was born in Flatlands a daughter of the late George Angus Bulmer and the late Sadie Jane McDavid. She spent over 28 years as an administrator of the Soldier's Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Monty Murray of Flatlands, her sons, Phil of Saskatchewan and Fraser of Flatlands, her sisters, Exie Delaney, Helen Daley and Ruth Bulmer, her granddaughter Susan E. Murray, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Jetta and her brother, Howard (Buddy).

The funeral service was held on January 17 at Maher's Funeral Home with Rev. William Watson and Rev. Douglas Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the spring.

Pallbearers were Herby Martin, Ken Murray, John Massey, Greg Ferguson, Dr. Matt Swan and Dan Arseneau. Honorary pallbearers were Don and Isabel Mann, Bill and Dot Duncan, Ralph and Kay Mann, Basil and Fay Kaine, Max and Norma Sutherland, George and Marion Elias, Bob Gillis and Betty Doyle, Renie Montgomery, Sylvie Gallant, and Gladys Swan.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Fernand Lanteigne

Fernand Lanteigne, 70, of Atholville, passed away on January 17, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.

He was born in Atholville on July 23, 1932 a son of the late Pierre Lanteigne and the late Odele Gionet.

He is survived by is wife, Simmone Aubut, his daughters, Therese (Ronald) Geraghty and Rachelle (Richard) Quinn, his son Richard, his sisters Jeanette (Cleo) Bryar and Delourdes (Joseph) Bryar, his brothers, Laurent, Douglas, Wilfred, and Alderic; as well as by Melanie, Patrick, Mathieu, Joshua, Kelsie, Harley and Misty-Lee. He was predeceased by his brother Gerard.

The funeral was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on January 20 in Atholville with Rev. Morrison officiating.

Pallbearers were Ronald and Patrick Geraghty, Richard and Mathieu Quinn, Richard Lanteigne and Gilles Bryar.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

William R. Arseneault

The death of William Arseneault, Dalhousie, occurred on January 15, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 70.

He was born in Dalhousie on September 14, 1932, son of the late Georges Arseneault and the late Anne Martha Gallon and was a papermaker.

He is survived by his daughters, Fernande Mallet of Dalhousie, Marleen Arseneault of Dundee, and Eileen Arseneault of Eel River Crossing, his sons William Jr. of Dundee, David Lloyd of Dundee and Robert (Bobby) of Dalhousie, as well as 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyne in 2002.

Funeral services will be held on January 25 at Saint John Baptist Church in Dalhousie with Father Doiron officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Dalhousie.
