Germaine "Toulaine" Ouellet

The death of Toulaine occurred Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Campbellton, NB, in 1915, she was the daughter of Willie Ouellet and Léontine Plourde.

Toulaine graduated in 1930 from the Dalhousie Commercial College, Dalhousie, NB. She occupied various secretarial positions. In 1947 she joined the CN in Campbellton and worked her way up through various positions until 1969, when she transferred to Montreal. She retired in the early 1980's.

She will be sadly missed by one brother, Yvan (Rosita) from Baysville, Ontario, a sister-in-law, Lilianne of Campbellton, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Rev. Fernand Ouellet and Roland G. Ouellet and one sister, Simone of Campbellton.

Toulaine will be remembered for her good humor, open heart and infectious laughter. She was an avid piano player and was part of the Stardusters Orchestra in 1950. She valued time spent with family and friends.

Memorial services were held on March 22, 2003, at Notre Dame des Neiges Church in Campbellton.

Helene Savoie

The death of Helene Savoie, of McLeods, NB, occurred on March 30, 2003 in McLoeds at the age of 90.

Born on March 23, 1913, in Balmoral, NB, she was the daughter of the late Fidele LeBlanc and Marguerite Bernard. She was a housewife and mother of five.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Savoie, daughters, Emerentienne (Emmy) Savoie, Rolande K. Joseph, Claudette M. Savoie, Corinne M. Savoie, son, Raymond L. Savoie, sisters, Marie essiembre, Gladys M. Leblanc. She is also survived by grandchildren Monique Joseph, Denise Joseph, Lloyd McEwen, Christine McEwen and Eric Savoie.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Lucille Savoie.

Alden Christie Sterling
The death of Alden Christie Sterling, of 422 Victoria Street, Dalhousie, occurred March 27, 2003, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 61. Born on May 19, 1941 in Campbellton, he was the son of Charles Sterling (deceased) and Jean Howatson. He was a paper maker at the NBIP for 37 years.

He is survived by his wife Donna-Claire "Bunny" Rankin-Sterling, Dalhousie, daughters Krista Lee (Roderick) Rioux, McLeods, Shelley Sterling (Paul Methot), Pt. La Nim, son Brian, Ontario, brothers John (Carole), Fredericton, Donald (Jacqueline), Minto, grandchildren, Kaylie, Erin and Michael. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was predeceased by his father, Charles.

Muriel Grace Barton

The death of Muriel Grace Barton of 531 Vanier St., Campbellton occurred at the moncton City Hospital on March 26, 2003. She was 82. Born in Glen Levit, NB, on August 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Augustas Thompson and Lottie Adams.

She was a housewife and member of the Golden Age Club of Richardsville and she enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Langford (Lankie) Barton, Campbellton, two daughters, Brenda (Gary) Oakes, Rothesay, and Barbie (Evan) Harding, Dalhousie, son Shane (Monique) Barton, McLeods, five sisters, Alma Irvine, Vivian (Lyman) Murray, Etta Murray, Verna Bulmer, Iris (Robert) Montgomery, brother, George (Maxine) Thompson, three great grandchildren, Tony and Sam Bourgeois, Cori Benoit, grandchildren, Lana Bissonnette, Kim Bourgeois, Lori Roherty, Tracy Foster, Susie Benoit, Kevin Harding, Chad and Brock Barton.

She was predeceased by three brothers Freeman, Gussie and Austin Thompson and one sister Bessie Letourneau.

Betty Alison Cairns

The death of Betty Alison Cairns of 101 Dover St., Campbellton, NB, occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 25, 2003.

She was 85. Born in Campbellton on February 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James Andrew and Alma Harrison.

She was a homemaker and member of the Campbellton Duplicate Bridge Club and U.C.W. First United Church.

She is survived by her two daughters, Gail Cairns, Halifax, and Barbara (Richard) Cairns, Lethbridge, Alberta, sister, Jetta Sweeney, Shelbourne, Ontario, several nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Cairns and her two brothers Walter and Allan.

Eugene Carrier

The death of Eugene Carrier of Lorne occurred Thursday, March 27, 2003 at St Joseph's Hospital at the age of 76. Born in Lorne, the son of the late Johnny Carrier and Ellen (Francoeur).

He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Carrier), brothers, Telesphore (Nellie) of Nash Creek, Valmont (Sadie) of Lorne, sisters Rose Godin (Pete) of Montreal, Mae Mallaley (Walter) of Lorne, Cecile Godin (Delphis) of Toronto, Esther Walker (Billy) of Jacquet River, Irene Godin (Glenn) of Montreal.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Lionel.

Ernest Doucet Sr.

The death of Ernest Doucet Sr. of Campbellton, NB, occurred at the George Dumont Hospital in Moncton on March 28, 2003, at the age of 75. Born in Bathurst, NB on December 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Ernest Doucet and Jane Roy.

He worked for the City of Campbellton for 25 years and was a member of the Campbellton Legion Branch 19. He loved to play cards, go fishing, hunting and camping.

He is survived by daughters, Suzanne Doucet, Balmoral, Cecile Parent, Campbellton, Denise Johnson, Ottawa, Betty-Anne Kerr, Ontario, sons Ernest, Mann's Mountain, Robert, Charles, Richard and Kevin of Campbellton, Daniel and Jean Guy of Moncton, Allain of Fredericton and Gerry of Halifax. Sisters Florance, May and Lynn who are all from Toronto. He is also survied by 18 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Clarina Ouellette.
