Herman LaPointe

Herman LaPointe of Scarborough, Ontario, and formerly of Nash Creek, passed away at the Scarborough General Hospital on August 30. He was 52.

Born in Dalhousie, he was the son of Gordon and Rosie (Gallen) LaPointe and had been distribution manager for Pioneer.

He is survived by his wife, Anita (Boudreau), his mother, a son, Brian of Scarborough and a stepson, Dan, of Ontario.

Also surviving are five sisters, Margaret (John) Doucet of Mitchell Rd., Marian (Ivan) Brophy of Fredericton, Cynthia (Randy ) Godin of Black Point, Joan (Randy) LaPointe of Toronto and Sharon (Gilles Godin of Nash Creek; three brothers, Donnie of Toronto, Terry (Dale) and Glen, both of Nash Creek.


Gaetan Mercier

Gaetan Mercier of Campbellton passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 3. He was 24.

He is survived by his parents, Sylvio Perron and Jacqueline Mercier and two sisters. Sylvie and Anne Perron.

Evangeline Lagace

Evangeline Lagace of Atholville passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 8. She was 68.

Born in St Joseph de Madawaska on June 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Phydime and Antoinette (Blanchette) Saucier.

She is survied by her husband, Henri Lagace, three daughters, Lilianne Cormier (Harry) MacKenzie of Miramichi, Aline Lagace (Jacques Theberge of St. Athur, and Paulette Beaupre (Roger of Tide Head, two sons, Claude (Micheline) of Saint Jacques and Luc (Sylvie LaMontagne) of Atholville, grandchildren Nadine, Eric, Melissa, Karine, Shawn, Christine, Jessica and Mathieu and two great-grand-children, Brianna and Jessica.

Effie Lyons Irvine

Effie Lyons Irvine passed away at York County Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario, on June 20th, 2001, in her 94th year.

She was the beloved wife of the late Verge Irvine, loving mother and mother-in-law of Arnold, Norma, Watson, Louise, Ethel, Daphne, Robert and Vergina Louis.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Florence, in January, 2000 and granddaughter Sheila in March 2001, Irma Gallant in 1962 and grandson John Fairservice in December 1963; two sons-in-law, Benoit Gallant, 1992 and James Fairservice in 1995.

She was the devoted grandmother of 16 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren. Effie will be missed by all her family and friends.

Theresa Lavigne

Theresa Lavigne of Nash Creek, widow of Frank Lavigne, passed away at her home on September 3. She was 90.

Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of the late Sandy and Marie (Lebreau) Carrier.

She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Antoine) Guitard of Jacquet River, Leona Lavigne (Lionel) Of Dalhousie and Doris Lavigne of Nash Creek; four sons, Alex (Anna), Leo and Murray (Winnie), all of Lorne and Delphis (Hazel) of Noel Settlement; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Beatrice, Betty and Lucy and three brothers, Alex, Donat and Celestin Carrier.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Norman, a sister, Marion and a grandson, Allan.

Viola Mallaley

Viola Mallaley, widow of Arthur Mallaley, of Lorne passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Dalhousie, on September 3. She was 80.

Born in Doyleville, she was the daughter of the late Tom J. and Effie (Furlong) Godin.

She is survived by two brothers, Leo (Antoinette) of Lorne and Delphis (Lydia) of Petit Rocher and five sisters, Opal Hickey (Charles) of Doyleville, Ethel Gagnon of Lorne, Ruby (Roderich) Chedore of Point la Nim, Mildred (Alfred) Larson of Dalhousie and Mathilda Chamberlain of Lorne.

Predeceased by her husband, Arthur, and a brother, Oswald.

Earl Robertson

Piper Archie Babcock led Earl Robertson of Tide Head from this world August 29, leaving friends ARchie Harper, sisters Muriel Smith, Lillian Pont, Lois (Ben) Dalcourt, Joyce MacKenzie, nieces, nephews, two sisters-in-law with many fond memories.

As he served his country, a poppy was placed.
