Louis (Pete) Doucette

The death of Louis Doucette of Campbellton occurred on April 29, 2003, at the Moncton City Hospital. He was 68.

Born in Campbellton, he was the son of the late Albert Doucette and the late Aurore Durette.

He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Beaulieu, sons, Daniel of McLeod's and Rene of Campbellton, his sisters, Evelyne Kerstead, Moncton, Merylda (Bill) Gray, Campbellton, Ida MacDonald, Fredericton, Lucille Donovan, Moncton, and Ethel White, in the United States, brothers, Randolph (Randy), Moncton and his grandchildren, Dominique and Jonathan Doucette.

He was predeceased by his brother, Marc Gilbert.

Norma Jean (Mann) Lyons

The death of Norma Jean (Mann) Lyons of Scarborough, Ontario, occurred on April 11, 2003, at the Scarborough General Hospital at the age of 76. She was born in Mann Settlement, P.Q., to the late Stanley Mann and Mary (Minnie) Irvine.

Norma was a long time resident of Scarborough, Ontario, and is a retired employee of Peakfrean Biscuit Company, now known as Christie.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Sheila, four brothers, Cecil, William, Weston and Richard, and one sister, Vivian Jomphe.

Norma is survived by her husband, Arnold, granddaughter, Katelynn, and two sisters, Doris Keays of Campbellton, N.B., and Margaret Irvine of Mann's Mountain, N.B. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald Vernon Stewart

In Escuminac, Quebec, Vern passed away suddenly in his sleep on January 29, 2003, at the age of 70. Predeceased by father, Walter, and mother, Grace, of Campbellton, N.B.

Vern leaves sisters Elsie and Jean, brothers Raymond (Mina), Robert (Phyllis) and their families. Survived by wife Mildred and cherished by his six children Michael, Brian (Maria), Carolyn (Rick), Alayne (Bob), Jocelyn (Adam), Paul (Patricia), fifteen grandchildren and stepdaughter Louise9Jim).

He will be missed by nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. A special thank you to nephew Barry Poirier for his devoted friendship.

Vern graduated from high school at age 16 in his hometown of Campbellton, attained a BA degree at St. Thomas University in Chatham, N.B., in 1953 where he played university hockey, progressed to achieve a BSc degree at St. Francis Xavier University in 1955 where he played university football, followed by a BE degree in electrical engineering at Nova Scotia Technical College in 1957.

After more than 30 years of service at CN/CP Telecommunications in Toronto, Vern retired November 9, 1987 and moved to Escuminac, Quebec, where he enjoyed the countryside he loved.

Pearl Pitre

The death of Pearl Pitre of Armstrong, wife of the late Charles Pitre, occurred on April 22, 2003, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Dalhousie, at the age of 94. She was born in Belledune to the late Joseph Daigle and Christine (Bertin).

She is survived by her sons, Ralph (Ruby) of Charlo, Manuel (Florance) of Doaktown, Gordon (Jeannette) of Armstrong, Norman (Sandra) of Black Point, daughters, Genevieve Daigle of St. Stephen, Bernadine Legacy (Manuel) of Armstrong and Kathleen Lapointe (Chester) of Jacquet River. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Charlie, sisters, Mary and Agnes, and her brother, Clement. Pallbearers were grandsons, Kenny and Dean Pitre, Chester and Darren Lapointe, Keith Legacy, Ralphy Guitard and Charles Daigle.

Hectorine Maltais

The death of Hectorine Maltais of McLeod's occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 29, 2003, at the age of 89. She was born in Dalhousie on July 15, 1913, to the late Mathias Comeau and Marie Henedine Sirois.

She is survived by daughter, Francine (Yvon) Allard, McLeod's, son, Ronald (Mona) Maltais, Moncton, grandchildren, Louise, Vanessa and Justin, great-granddaughter, Abbygail, Moncton and nice, Lynn Young, London, Ontario.

She is predeceased by her husband Henri, her son Bernard, her parents, Mathias and Marie Henedine and her two brothers, Elphege and Leo.

Sylvio Drapeau

Sylvio Drapeau, of Eel River Crossing, passed away at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Dalhousie on May 1, 2003.

Born in Eel River Crossing on March 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Phillip and Anna (Tardif) Drapeau. He worked for several years in various parts of Ontario and Quebec as a crane operator. He returned to Eel River Crossing in the late 60's where he operated a Texaco service station until his retirement.

Sylvio is survived by three sisters; Isabelle (Alex) Bernard, Iselin, New Jersey, Patricia (Sandor) Guyk, Fredericton, and Sylvia (Armel) Levesque, Eel River Crossing, and by one sister-in-law, Eileen Drapeau, Eel River Crossing, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Odillon, Adrien and Guy Drapeau. At his request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service was held at Holy Trinity Church, Eel River Crossing, on May 5, at 2 p.m. followed by a reception.

Harvey LeBlanc

The death of Harvey LeBlanc of 235 Vanier Street, Campbellton, occorrued at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 29, 2003, at the age of 64. He was born in Dalhousie, N.B. on February 23, 1939, to the late Raymond LeBlanc and Bertha Babin. Mr. LeBlanc was retired at the time of his death.

He was a minister of communion and a lector.

He enjoyed building model planes and model boats as a hobby.

He is survived by his wife, Norma (Landry) LeBlanc of Campbellton, sister, Lorraine (Bill) Skelly of Edmonton, Alberta, brothers, Lloyd (Holly) LeBlanc, Henri (Anne) LeBlanc of Vancouver, (Buzz) Hector (Lucille) LeBlanc of Dalhousie. He is also survived by ten nephews and six nieces.

He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Donina (LeBlanc) Nolan.
