Morris Isaac

The death of Morris Isaac of Ottawa occurred on April 22, 2003 in Ottawa at the age of 59.

He was born in Listuguj on October 20, 1943 a son of the late George Isaac and the late Jeannette Martin.

He was retired from the Department of Indian Affairs and an avid writer and artist and a radio show host in Listuguj, Big Cove, and Eskasoni, as well as other native radio stations.

He is survived by his wife, Olive Jones of Ottawa, his sisters, Shirley and Dorothy Isaac of Listuguj, Theresa Julien of Truro, NS, and Jean Connors of Nashua, NH, brothers, Vernon " Joe " of Listuguj and Fred of Ottawa. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends, thanks for the laughter Morris.

The funeral was held in Ottawa on April 26 with Father John Decoste officiating and again in Listuguj on May 3, 2003 with father Landry officiating.

Interment will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Jean McKinnon

The death of Jean McKinnon of Escuminac occurred on May 10, 2003 at the C.L.S.C. Malauze in Matapedia at the age of 82.

She was born in New Carlisle, Quebec on February 5, 1921 a daughter of Matthew Day and Muriel Mitchell.

She is survived by her Daughters Sharon ( Oscar ) Court, Christina Pitre and Beulah Sexton, all of Escuminac and her sons Brendon of Moncton and Gwain of Alberta.

The funeral was held at her graveside of the Escuminac United Church on May 12, 2003.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Edna Mary MacDonald Allingham
The death of Edna Allingham occurred at her residence in the Campbellton Nursing Home at the age of 93 on May 4, 2003.

She was born in Flatlands on May 12, 1909 to the late John MacDonald and the late Myrtle Cooling.

She was an RN and a member of the UCW of St.Andrew's United Church in Tide Head and member of the Rebecca Lodge and Caledonian Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Ivy ( Wayne ) Curtis, grandchildren, Keith ( Gwen ), Debbie ( Chris ), Donna, Sandra ( Ed ) and Kathy, great-grand-children, Emily, Amy, and Jason O'Hearn, Sam and Alex Johnson, Andrea and Marley McQuillon and Jack and Shaun Allingham, sister, Dorothy Cook, brother, Bruce MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Fred, son Samuel, daughter, Dorothy Jean.

The funeral was held on May 7, 2003 at Maher`s Funeral Home with Wendell Gregan officiating.

Interment in the Rural Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher`s Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Rita Blanchard(Hughes)

The death of Rita Blanchard of Atholville accurred on May 5. 2003 at the Village Nursing Home in Campbellton. She was 78.

She was born in Chutes à Blandeau, Ontario on November 5, 1924 a daughter of the late Eva Lowe and the late James Hughes.

She was a very active member of the CWL and loving mother of seven children.

She is survived by her husband John, her daughter Elizabeth LeBoeuf, sons, Michael, Edmond, Daniel, Bernard, Mathew, and Vincent and one brother, Leo Hughes. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Andrew and Henri a sister, Elizabeth, and one granddaughter, Christine.

The funeral held on May 7 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Atholville with Father Benoit officiating.

Pallbearers were Michael, Edmond, Daniel, Bernard, Mathew, and Vincent Blanchard.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Agatha Lavigne
The death of Agatha Lavigne of Dalhousie occurred on May 2, 2003 in St Joseph's Hospital, Dalhousie at the age of 91. She was born on Miscou Island on March 25, 1912 a daughter of the late Joseph Dignard and the late Annie Beaudoin.

She is survived by her daughters, Violet Lavigne, Judy Harquail, and Joan Martins of Dalhousie and Bella ( Bev ) Morrow of Etobicoke, Ontario, son Herman Jr. of Dalhousie and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman in 1993, and children, Marie and Gerald.

The funeral was held at the St. John Bosco Church in Dalhousie on May 5, 2003 with Rev. Chamberlain officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery with Kevin Martin, Jason, Raymond and Ryan Lavigne, Gordon Harquail and Roy Martins serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Lorraine LeBlanc

The death of Lorraine LeBlanc of Campbellton occurred on May 3, 2003 at the age of 77. She was born in New Richmond, Quebec on June 15, 1925 a daughter of the late Epiphane Cyr and Flaure Bujold.

She is survived by daughter, Joyce ( Jack ) Charby of Westport, Ontario, daughter-in-law, Doris Aubie, sons, Michael (Julia) LeBlanc, Brampton, Ontario, Bernard (Aurore) LeBlanc, Campbellton, brothers, Raphael (Kay) Cyr, Montreal, Michel (Leonette) Cyr, Campbellton, Gilles Cyr, Saint-John, grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) LeBlanc Jr., Jamie (Nadia) LeBlanc, Shauna LeBlanc, Jeanine Lecouffe, sister and Alcide Cyr, brother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward LeBlanc and son, Donald LeBlanc.

The funeral was held on May 6, 2003 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Campbellton with Father Benoit officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.

Dorothy (Love) Poley

The death of Dorothy Poley of Campbellton occurred on May 2, 2003 at the age of 76. She was born in Campbellton on November 22, 1926. She was a loan officer at the Campbellton Bank of Commerce for 34 years and active in the First United Church in Campbellton.

She was survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Poley, sisters Gladys MacCallum, Anne Wetmore, and Jean McLennan, and a brother, Kenneth Love.

The funeral was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel on May 5 with Rev. Jim MacDonald officiating. Interment in the Rural Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne and Greg Love, Wayne McLennan, Steven Walters, Bill Bark and Fred Wetmore.

Rene Arsenault

The death of Rene Arsenault of Atholville occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on April 13, 2003 at the age of 76. Born on April 13, 1927 to the late Augustin Arsenault and the late Esther Poirier.

He is survived by his sister, Simonne Lagace, his sister-in-law Annette (Adrien) Arsenault, his "special" nieces, Sharon and Linda Arsenault, as well as 14 nephews and 10 additional nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lucien, George and Adrien.

The funeral was held from Maher's Funeral Chapel on April 16, 2003 with Rev. Morrison officiating. Interment in the Notre Dame de Lourdes Cemetery with Blaine Arsenault, Norbert Levesque, Maurice Richard and Robert Ouellette serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home in Campbellton.
