A.J. Gaston Wagner
Peacefully and surrounded with loving care, at the Centre d'Accueil Roger-Séguin, Clarence Creek ON in his 98th year, on May 17, 2003.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Laure (née Major) in 1991 and leaves to mourn him a daughter, Marie Laure and a son, Claude both of Ottawa, also many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was the last surviving member of eight children of Jean-Baptiste and Malvina (née Bernier). All were born, raised and schooled in Campbellton.
He was very much attached to his roots and visited here regularly. Many friends residing here will share his loss with his children.
His career had begun as a telegram messenger for Canadian National Telegraphs in Campbellton. He married and settled in Ottawa in 1936. He retired as a Morse Telegraph Operator, Commercial Division, in 1970.
A funeral Mass and Burial took place in Ottawa. May he rest in peace.
Rose Gallant Johnstone
Rose Gallant Johnstone, of Campbellton NB, died on May 22, 2003, at the age of 83.
Born on February 6, 1920 in Kedgwick, NB, she was the daughter of Wilfred Jolicoeur (deceased) and Helene Parker (deceased).
She is survived by daughters Jeannine, of Alberta; Georgette, of Ontario, and Gloria (Husband Phillip) of BC; sons Raymond (Cash) and his wife Anne of Tide Head; sister Helene, of Henriette Quebec; and brothers Yvon, Philippe and Fred of Quebec.
She is also survived by grandchildren Daniel, Mark, Kimberley, Michael, Carol; and great-grandchildren Nicholas, Emma and Ryan.
She was pre-deceased by Leo Gallant (1973), Harvey Johnstone (1983), son George (1947), and daughter Georgette's husband, Mike Selley (2003).
Edna Mazerolle
Edna Mazerolle, 87, of Dieppe, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the Moncton Hospital.
She was born in Jacquet River; she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and the late Anastasia (Née: Goodine) Dempsey.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Atholville Legion since 1955, where she held the post of 1st Vice, President, and Past President. In 1987, she transferred to the Moncton legion Branch 6, where she was awarded an honorary presidency and a life long membership. As a member of the Atholville C.W.L., she was awarded a 25-year pin. Mrs Mazerolle was also a member of the Legion dart team, both in Atholville and Moncton, as well as an avid card player. She also enjoyed TV bingo and family gatherings.
Mrs. Mazerolle is survived by five daughters: Stacey (Fred) Daigle, Susan Mazerolle, both of Dieppe, Marilyn (Ron) Loader of Bramalea, ON, Georgia Boudreau of Rexdate, ON and Edna Mazerolle of Don Mills, ON; two sons: Glen of Don Mills, ON and Ian (Mavis) of South Esk; one brother; Ivan (Harriet) Dempsey of Jacquet River; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Dempsey of Moncton and Evangeline Mazerolle of Jacquet River; one brother-in-law, Leslie (Orilla) Mazerolle of Moncton; 11 grand-children, 7 great-grandchildren and also by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George A. in 1979; two sons; baby Timothy and Jack; one daughter; baby Maria Georgia; six sisters: Margaret, Mabel, Emma, Katie, Estelle and Cecilia; six brothers: Percy, Herbie, Walter, Freddie, Carroll, and Willie.
Visitation will be held from the Chatersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment in St Gabriel Parish Cemetery, Jacquet River, NB.
In her memory, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation of the Dr. Georges L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation (Cancer Unit) would be appreciated.
Allan Murray
Murray, Allan of Glencoe, died on May 24, 2003 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 53.
Born on March 31,1950, he was the son of Simon Murray (deceased).
He is survived by wife Kathy, and mother Wanda (Babcock), of Glencoe; daughter, Jennifer (Vaughan) Irvine of Campbellton, son, Mark (Angela) Murray of Glen Levit; sisters Mona (Gordon) Harris of Atholville, Brenda Murray of Cross Point, Lorraine (Carl) Dobson of Campbellton; and brothers Bob (Ann) Murray of Glencoe, and Danny (Aldora) Murray of Atholville. He was also survived by four grandchildren, Spencer; Blake, and Bayant Murray and Amber Irvine.
Dorothy Margaret Gillis
Gillis, Dorothy Margaret (Peggy) - passed away peacefully at St Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, on Feb. 15, 2003, with her sister Anne at her side, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was a flight attendant with Air Canada for many years and retired in Vancouver; Peggy was a daughter of the late Allan and Viola (Craig) Gillis of Campbellton, NB, and stepdaughter of the late George Young, Tide Head, NB.
Surviving are sister Ann (Albert) Pearse, Sault Ste. Marie, ON; brother David (Myrtle) Gillis, Dartmouth, NS; stepsisters Jean Connors, Atholville, NB; Anne (David) Greene, Centreville, NB; Georgie (Jim) Graham, North Bay, ON; and stepbrother Melborne (Patricia) Young, Sarnia, ON. She was a beloved aunt of Mary (Peter) Lapointe, Cambridge, ON; Harry (Dianna) Pearse, Port Coquitlam, BC; David Pearse, Elliot Lake, ON; Kathlyn Pearse, Burlington, ON; Heather-Anne Gillis, Dartmouth, NS; and Robert Gillis, Dieppe, NB.
Peggy will also be sadly missed by many great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by stepbrothers Earl Young, Gray Young, Charles Young, and Leland Young. A graveside service will be held on June 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Dawsonville Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the Mount View Golden Age Club, Dawsonville. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Jamieson, Pauline
Jamieson, Pauline (Peggy) Marion - Peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, on May 20, 2003, of complications following surgery, surrounded by her loving children. Peggy was born in Waterville, NB, to the late Harry and Dora (Rogers) Lipsett, and grew up in Hartland. She was married to the late Lloyd E. Jamieson and spent her married life in Campbellton and Fredericton.
Peggy is survived by three children: Gordon and his wife Dianne, of Simcoe, Ont., and their children, Randy and Steven (Teresa); Susan McLeod and her husband, William of Fredericton, and their children, Dr. Andrew McLeod (Dr. Allison Rideout) and Sarah (Stephen) Strickey; and Dr. Janet Jamieson and her husband Michael Asch, of North Vancouver, B.C., and their children, Daniel and Jordan. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald, who died in 1958. She derived great joy from her three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan and Gabriela. Peggy is slao survived by two sisters, Mona Clark and Elizabeth (Betty ) Boyd, both of Woodstock, and was predeceased by her sister; Mildred Lanyon, formerly of Harland. She will be fondly remembembered by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend Mildren Harvey.
Peggy was a longtime and dedicated member of Wilmot United Church, where she was active in the United Church Women and Seniors Group, and also served as church secretary for a time. She worked for many years as a legal secretary in both private and government sectors. Peggy maintained a vibrant interest in politics and had a keen appreciation of the written word. She had lived at her home in Sunshine Gardens for over 40 years and enjoyed the friendship and support of her neighbors.
Louise Dunn
Louise Dunn of 194 St. Louis, Atholville passed away in her place of residence on May 21, 2003, at the age of 54. Louise was a retired schoolteacher.
Born in Atholville on March 2, 1949, she was the daughter of Arnold Dunn (deceased) and Yvonne LeBlanc.
She is survived by husband Herb Price, mother Yvonne Dunn, daughter, Michelle Arseneault, son Sean Arseneault, sisters, Blanche Dunn, Marina Dugas, and Alice Rhindress, and brothers Maurice, Rene, Richard and Conrad. She was also survived by granddaughter Samantha, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Father Arnold Dunn (Atholville, April 13, 2000) and sister Lorraine Dunn (Montreal, February 22, 2002).
The funeral for the deceased was held on May 24, 2003 , and was officiated by Rev. Romeo Morrison. The internment was held at our lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Tide Head. Pallbearers were Eric Dugas, Andre Frenette, Marc Dunn, Nicholas Rhindress, Joey Dunn and Mike Day.
