Donald M. Duncan

Donald M. Duncan, 75, died of cancer on May 22, 2003 in Stottsdale, Arizona. Don was a long time resident of Nevada, having resided in Elko, Crescent Valley, Carlin and Winnemucca in the 60's and 70's.

He had lived in Reno for the pat 23 years with second homes in Sequim, Washington and North Hutchinson Island, Florida.

Recently he and Inge have been wintering in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Don was born on May 5, 1928 in Campbellton, NB, Canada to Lena M. Duncan and Clarence Duncan. He graduated from Haileybury School of Mines, Canada with a degree in Mining Engineering. Later, moving to the U.S. to work in mining in Arizona, he was drafted into the US Army to serve during the Korean War.

After serving stateside as a tank commander, he moved back to eastern Canada where he met and married Inge M. Marienfeldt in 1957.

Don was employed for 17 years with Placer Dome. This was followed by a consulting practice specialising in the engineering, construction and start-up of mine properties. He held executive positions in some of these properties/companies. He was involved with the start-up of the Cortez, Pinson and Hycroft Gold Mines. He was much involved in gold recovery innovations such as heap leaching, carbon recovery technology and refining techniques. Upon retirement in 1988, he became involved in venture financing.

Don's favourite pastimes were hunting, fishing, boating and travelling the world. In his younger days he was an avid skier.

Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Inge, daughter Lynn Duncan and her husband Fred Velasquez of Reno, daughter Faye Duncan of Chico, CA, and stepson Larry Iskra of Reno, grandson Daniel Pennington of Santa Barbara, CA., step-granddaughters Paula Jean Velasquez of Hawaii and Erin Miles of Vacaville, CA., sister Barbara (Babs) Shave and brother-in-law Chic Shave, nieces Kathy Plunkett and Colleen Shave and great nieces Kira Shave and Drew Plunkett, all of Canada.

His parents, his son Kirk W. Duncan and his brother James (Jim) Duncan of Gillingham England preceded him in death.

A memorial service was held in Reno, Nevada on Saturday May 31, 2003. Burial in Campbellton Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Allan Doucet

Allan Doucet of Campbellton passed away at the Village Nursing Home on May 26, 2003 at the age of 79. Born July 20, 1923 in Charlo, he was the son of Michel Doucet (deceased November 1957) and Josephine Allain (deceased January 1982).

He is survived by his wife Imelda Doucet, daughters, Murielle Furlotte, Campbellton, Claudette Clark (Stephen), Hampton, NB, Carole Cross (Don), Kamloops, BC, and Rachel Doucet (Al Moynes) Edmonton AB; son Geoffrey Doucet (Lisa), Edmonton, and sisters, Juliette and Lorette Doucet, Campbellton. He is also survived by grandchildren Bradley, Rachelle, Trevor, Kacy and Colin.

He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

The funeral service was held at Notre Dame des Neiges Church on May 30 with Father Romeo Morrison officiating, Interment was held at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Geoffrey Doucet, Bradley Furlotte, Stephen Clark, George Giroux, Lionel Giroux, and John Boudreau.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home Campbellton.

Murielle (Luty) Carrier

The death of Muriel (Luty) Carrier of Gravel Hill occurred Thursday, May 29, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 55. Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte (Carrier).

She is survived by her husband Delphis, sister Betty Carrier of Fredericton, half-sister Flora Carrier of Jacquet River, stepchildren Josephine LaPointe (Wade) of Jacquet River, Valerie Carrier (Randy) of Gravel Hill, Shirley LaPointe (Donnie Hickey) of Lorne, Delphis LaPointe Jr. of Jacquet River, Sally Meade (Donnie) of Jacquet River, Lloyd LaPointe (Cora) of New Mills, Susan LaPointe of Bathurst, also several members of the Carrier family, nieces Christine, Karen, Zelda, Irma and nephews Craig, Tommy, Curtis, half-brothers Derbin Esliger, Claude Esliger, and half-sisters Martha Chamberlain, Geraldine Savoie, Florence Doyle, Lorette Doucett, Albertine Furlotte, Pauline O'Brien, Adeline Mallaley, Lucinda Dempsey and several cousins. Pre-deceased by her mother Charlotte and brother Clement.

Her funeral service was held from St Marie Goretti Church, Lorne, Saturday, May 31, officiated by Father Comean.

Pallbearers were Lloyd LaPointe, Delphis LaPointe Jr., Elliot Carrier, Tommy Carrier, Donny Hickey, John Carrier.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.
