Connie Godin

Mrs. Connie Godin (Murchie), wife of Ken Godin of Lorne, N.B. passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 60.

A native of Doyleville, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Angus (Lapointe) Murchie.

She was a homemaker, extremely active in her community and as a member of the St. Maria Gorettie Parish, she participated in all the church activities. She was a 25 year volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. She will always be remembered for her rendition of "these boots were made for walking".

She is survived by her husband Ken of Lorne, two daughters Debbie McKinley (James) of Ottawa, Lise Kane (Danny) of Miramichi, three sons Bryan of Florida, Marc (Cindy) of Barrie, Ont., and Dannie of Fredericton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, two sisters Cora Murchie of Doylville and Valerie Hickey of Nash Creek and one brother Ray Murchie (Mary Stella) of Doylville.

She was predeceased by and infant sister Dawn and an infant brother Donald.

Exilda Marcoux

The death of Exilda Marcoux of 300 Goderich St., Dalhousie, occurred at the Montreal General Hospital on February 21, 2004, at the age of 80.

Born in Balmoral on November 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Levesque and the late Celine Lavallee.

She is survived by her daughters Claudette (Leo Roy) of Dalhousie, Martine Carrier of Chateauguay, Que, and Lucille (Mickey Harris) of Dalhousie, her sons Albert (Annette) Marcoux of Chateauguay, Quebec, Valmond Marcoux of Mascouche, Quebec, Jean Claude (Rose) Marcoux of St. Julie, Quebec, sisters Cecile Levesque of Montreal, brothers Omer Levesque of Chateauguay, Quebec and Albert Levesque of Eel River Crossing. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Armand in 1976.

Eva Furlotte

The death of Eva Furlotte occurred, February 21, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Dalhousie at the age of 84.

Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late Edward Long and Bridget Legacy.

She was predeceased by her husband Irvine, sons Glenn and Clinton, brothers Joseph Simon and Edward Jr.

She is survived by her daughters Norma Hickey (Pat) of Jacquet River, Wanda Price of Fredericton, Janet Moore (Garry) of Scarborough, Linda Adams of Jacquet River, Lorraine Furlotte of Blackland, Mary Jean Furlotte of Jacquet River, Ann Furlotte of Toronto, and Nancy Furlotte of Jacquet River, as well as one son Cletus of Toronto.

She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Mary Carlson

The death of Mary Carlson occurred Monday, February 23, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital at the age of 92. Born in Nash creek, she was the daughter of Eugene Joseph Blais and Elizabeth Gagné. She was the wife of the late Alexander Carlson. She is survived by her son Leonard of Richibucto, two daughters, Elizabeth Ferlotte of Archibald and Stella Andrews (Bob) of Nash Creek. She was also survived by her sister Francis Doucet of Campbellton, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Evangeline Hickey

The death of Evangeline Hickey of Jacquet River and formerly of Lorne, occurred Sunday, February 22, 2004, at the Saint Joseph Hospital at the age of 86.

Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of Robert Carrier and Virginia Hickey.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry and son Guy.

She is survived by her sons Alphonse (Anne) of Murdochville, Roy of Lorne, Robert (Bobby) of Sudbury, daughters Henriette Dempsey (Allison Lapointe) of Jacquet River and Annette Hickey (Ross) of Haldimond, Gaspe. She is also survived by her grandchildren Glen, Danny and Lisa Dempsey; Marsha and Christopher Hickey; Julian, Bruce and Faye Hickey and Lynn Hickey.

She is also survived by four great grandchildren Adam and Derek Hickey; Maeve and Tess Mooney and one sister Gertrude Gauthier.

John (Jackie) Ellis

The death of John (Jackie) Ellis of Jacquet River occurred Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the Bathurst Hospital at the age of 84.

Born in Jacquet River, he was the son of the late Harry Ellis and Kate Legace.

He was predeceased by his wife Antoinette Legacy.

He is survived by his son Arnold (Marg) of Jacquet River; daughter Merely Ellis of Montreal; two sisters Eileen Gray of Jacquet River and Florence Daigle of Jacquet River; brother Urban Ellis of Jacquet River; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Dorothy McGrath

The death of Dorothy McGrath of 64 Andrew St., Campbellton, occurred at the Campbellton regional Hospital on February 12, 2004.

Dorothy was born in Paspebiac, Quebec, on June 5, 1929.

She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Rodney), Charlotte McGrath, Margaret McGrath and Edith McGrath, sons Rene (Cathy), Perry (Sandra), Johnny (Eileen) and Steve (Carol), brothers George LeMaitre and Walter LeMaitre of Ontario. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her Husband John, and her parents, George and Elizabeth.

Dorothy Victoria Gilker

The death of Dorothy Victoria Gilker, resident of the Village Nursing Home, occurred in Campbellton on February 22, 2004, at the age of 97.

Born in Campbellton on May 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Dobson and the late Mary Ann (Dolly) Connell.

Dorothy was a homemaker who was very active in the community as a Sunday School Teacher and youth leader with the Anglican Church, as well as a member of the Anglican Church Women, envelope secretary and corporation member. She was also a member of the I.O.D.E, North Light Rebekah Lodge, N.B. Housing Board. Extra Mural Hospital Board, Soldiers Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Restigouche Music Festival Association, District School Board Member and member of the Progressive Conservative Association.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters Diane (Lorne) Stymiest of Bathurst and Patricia (Dick) Burgess of Fredericton; sons Bryan (Ellen) Gilker of Boiestown and Reid (Audrey) Gilker of Listuguj; brother Bill Dobson of Toronto, Ontario, as well as 11 grandchildren, 13 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and one special sister-in-law Ellen Garrels.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward, son Michael, sisters Opal, Jean (Francis), Muriel (Tim), mother Mary Ann (Dolly) Dobson, and Father Wesley Dobson.
