Edward Chesley Butler
October 1937 - June 27, 2003.

On Friday, June 27, 2003, Mr. Edward Butler of Cold Lake, Alberta passed away, very suddenly, in Cambridge, Ontario, at the age of 65.

He was the son of Mildred Butler and the late Edward (Chummy) Butler, of Tide Head, N.B. Edward is lovingly survived by his wife: Carole Butler (nee Roberts), of Cold Lake, A.B.; son Dale (Lesley) Butler; daughter Dawn (Mike) Butler-LeBlanc, of Cold Lake, A.B.; mother Mildred Butler, of Tide Head, N.B.; brother Fred (Diane) Butler of St. Lambert, P.Q.; two sisters: Olive Ann (Jack) Archibald, of Tide Head, N.B.; Ina Mae (Chipman) MacDonald, of St. Lambert, P.Q.; grandchildren: Sandra Dawn Noble, Devon Edward Butler, and Brandt Michael LeBlanc, all of Cold Lake, A.B.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Edward was predeceased by his father, Edward L. Butler.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 from Trinity United Church, Cold Lake, A.B., with Reverend Heather Carlson, presiding. Ministry of Music was supplied by the church organist, Peggy Cheyne, with vocal duets by Margaret Archibald, and Marjorie Jewell "I Cannot Keep From Singing" and "On Eagles Wings".

Scripture lessons were read by Rev. Margaret Archibald (niece) and Olive Ann Archibald, LPM. Words of remembrance were given by Olive Ann Archibald, Ray Gillespie and Jim Belliveau. Cremation followed the funeral service.

Honourary pallbearers were: Devon Butler, Brandt LeBlanc, Ray Gillespie, Wes Harrison, Moe Morrison, and Jim Belliveau. Pallbearers were: Dale Butler, Mike LeBlanc, Fred Butler, Blair McCaffery, Mark Jewell, and Elton Blades. Memorial tributes may be made to the "Edward Butler Youth Scholarship", Cold Lake Pastoral Charge of the United Church of Canada, Cold Lake, A.B., or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 10985-124 Street, Edmonton, A.B. T5M 9Z9. Arrangements were in the care of Memento Funeral Chapel, Cold Lake and Bonnyville, Alberta.

Galen Barnaby

Galen Barnaby, of Listuguj, P.Q., passed away at the Moncton Hospital on August 1, 2003, at the age of 45.

Born in Campbellton, N.B. on December 15, 1957, he was the son of Joe Harvey Barnaby (deceased) and Hilda Morrison. He is survived by his mother, Hilda Barnaby; daughters, Jessie, Erika, and Alexandra; sisters, Betty Ann, Sandra, Karen and Stephanie; brothers, Harvey, and Richard; nephews, Dusty, Blake, Kye, Jeffrey, and Drake; and nieces, Danielle, Hillary, Tomasina, Krystle, and Morgan.

The funeral service was held at St. Anne's Church on August 4, 2003, and was officiated by Father Evariste Landry. Pallbearers were Harvey Barnaby, Raymond Isaac, Richard Barnaby, Donny Isaac, Frank Leclaire and Kye Metallic-Barnaby. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.

Joseph Mallaley

The death of Joseph Mallaley, of Lorne, occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital, Dalhousie, on July 30, at the age of 95.

Born in Lorne, he was the son of Thomas Mallaley and Clara (Carrier). He was predeceased by his wife Evangeline (LaPointe), daughter Cecille, sons, Ernest and Ralph, his brothers, Raymond, Tommy, Johnny and Xavier, as well as his sisters, Gertrude, Sarah Jane and Margaret. He is survived by his sons, Angus (Edna), of Lorne, Andy (Rosaline), of Lorne, Allen (Connie), of Lorne, Evans, of Lorne, daughters Anna Lavigne (Alex), of Lorne, Sylvia Carrier, of Lorne, Jackie Dempsey (Norman), of Lorne, Ernestine Carrier (Donald), of Lorne, and Darlene LaPointe, of Gravel Hill. He is also survived by three brothers-Edward, Alexander, and David, and a sister, Mary Emma.

His funeral was held from St. Marie Goretti Church on July 31, and was officiated by Father Lionel Comeau. Burial was held at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Garance Furlotte, Mason Dempsey, Casper Mallaley, Gary Mallaley, Kevin Mallaley, and Clay LaPointe. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.

Ronald Poirier

The death of Ronald Poirier, of Jacquet River, occurred on July 21, 2003, at the age of 60.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Emery Poirier and Annie (Martin). He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Moriarty); his daughter, Leigh Ann LaPointe, of Jacquet River; his grandson, Jeremy, and granddaughter, Sarah.

He was the owner and operator of E.A. Poirier and Son general store, in Jacquet River. His funeral was held at St. Gabriel's Church, Jacquet River, on July 24, and was officiated by Father Wilfred Benoit, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Honourary pallbearers were Arnold Ellis, Allen Roy, Rayburn Doucet, Vaughan Dionne, Roger Lapointe and Donnie Martin. Pallbearers were Mike Frenette, Don Moriaryy, Luc Breton, Joey Moriarty, Ricky Moriarty, and Calvert LaPointe. Funeral arrangements were in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.
